About Type Forward

Type Forward is an independent type foundry founded by us – Stan Partalev and Mirela Belova.

After working together with significant ease for the past few years, we decided it was time to team up. We started out as visual artists in various fields. However, we both found ourselves most inspired when creating functional designs, which in time grew into a passion for typography and type design. Driven by shared vision and inspiration, we focus on producing high-quality original fonts with great technological care.

Now with several years of experience working on different successful typefaces, we are ever so motivated to share what we are capable of.

Stan Partalev

I explore various aspects of urban life, culture, and history through media such as posters, typography, lettering and other design practices.

Starting as a graffiti artist, I have been interested in visual arts and design since I can remember. That led me to the National Academy of Arts, Sofia, where I graduated with “Poster and Visual Communication BA”, and “Poster MA”. I then joined a renowned type foundry, where I developed and improved my understanding of typography and type design skills. In 2020 I became a part of the newly created foundry Type Forward.

Mirela Belova

I am drawn to the problem-solving aspect of type design. While some prefer sketching, I thrive on the technical side—the “invisible” work that makes a font function flawlessly.

My journey started in 2017 after a type design workshop led me to join Fontfabric. That is where I discovered my passion for typography and met my creative partner, Stan. Six years ago, we teamed up to launch our independent foundry, Type Forward. Today, I continue to focus on refining details, optimizing our processes, and ensuring our typefaces perform perfectly.
